The NMC’s basic Application Checklist
Sea Service- When calculating qualifying sea time, you must have been underway on the water for a minimum of four (4) hours to count as one (1) sea day. (Only one day’s credit is allowed per date. Military time and foreign time is evaluated for eligibility by the U. S. Coast Guard (NMC). This time is evaluated on a case-by-case basis
Can I renew my credential by mail? You may renew by mail by submitting all of the required paperwork and fees to one of the USCG REC. Please ensure that all supporting paperwork is original documents or certified copies (certified by the agency that issued the original credential.)
