Our Master License courses offer two weeks of classroom instruction by professional, licensed captains. We don’t simply “teach to the test”. Our instructors provide the highest quality classroom instruction, giving you the skills and knowledge needed to operate a vessel with confidence. The Compass Courses staff can help guide you through the whole process, including documenting your sea time and assistance with the application process.
100 Ton Master Inland/Near Coastal: This is the course for you whether you are working as a deckhand and looking to make your way into the wheelhouse, or you own your own vessel and are interested in operating private charters. Our 100 Ton License course is 80 hours, runs two weeks, Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm and covers:
* Rules of the Road
* Navigation and Chart Plotting
* Deck General

Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV)
Our 100 Ton Captains course is also approved to meet the requirements for Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) commonly known as a Six Pack license.
What does this mean to you? A Near Coastal license may be closer than you think.
With only 90 days of Near Coastal sea service and at least 360 days total sea service, you should be eligible for an OUPV Near Coastal license. Should you want to work as an operator of a small charter vessel off the coast you can. (The vessel must, however, be not be inspected, be less than 100 GRT carrying a maximum of 6 passengers and remaining within 100NM of the US.)
Special Note- If you have been approved by the USCG for a 100 Ton Master/ 150 Ton Mate license you will need to take the 200 Ton Master course to fulfill the exam requirements of the 150 Ton Mate rating.
