It's likely been five years since you took BST, and hopefully you haven't had to fight a real fire, abandon ship, or give CPR. This course presents a great opportunity to reexperience critical training and relearn some things you may have forgotten. Our 2-day STCW Basic Safety Training Revalidation is for those mariners who have previously taken the 5-day Basic Safety Training and require its renewal for their credential. (Note: If you do not have the requisite minimum 360 days of sea time beyond the boundary line to qualify for the Revalidation, then the three-day BST Refresher may satisfy the renewal requirements. As always, the USCG will make the determination as to which course you need to take to renew, if unsure contact The National Maritime Center at https://www.dco.uscg.mil/nmc/contact/
What to bring
You need to have some basic items to be prepared for this course. For firefighting, we recommend levis/sweatpants and a t-shirt to wear under the bunker gear. Synthetic clothing, tank tops, and shorts are not recommended. A change of clothes is also recommended. A tight seal on the face mask is a must and a requirement for participation. In the pool, you will need to wear swim shorts/shorts (no speedos or bikinis) and a t-shirt at all times. Remember to bring a towel too!
Compass Courses’ passion is to provide current and future seafarers with the knowledge, understanding, and proficiencies they need to be successful and safe through quality training on a reliable schedule.
